Phoenix Mercury game

The day before my due date we decided to squeeze in one last date night. We found some really cheap tickets to the finals game for the WNBA against the Phoenix Mercury and Indiana Fever. The series was tied 2-2 so this was the final game! (best out of 5) We brought our friends Ashley and Todd and had a great time! The Mercury pulled it off and won the championship! The WNBA MVP Diana Taurasi plays on the Mercury and she was definitely showing everyone why she was MVP during the game! The game was a lot of fun. I was hoping all the walking we did that night would help start the labor process, but Ethan decided to wait around and I ended up being 3 days over my due date.

I'm back!

Wow! It's been a great couple of months and we are loving being parents! I think I've experienced every emotion possible the past couple of months! Ethan was born on Oct 14, 2009 at 9:32 a.m. He was 6 lbs. 14 oz and 21.5 inches long. At his 1 month appointment, he was just over 9 lbs, and I'm sure he's inching towards 10 lbs by now! He's now 7 weeks old and is starting to smile and coo at us when we play with him! He is such a cutie and we're loving him! Here is a link to our web album.

Less than 2 weeks.......

Our lives are going to be changing in the next couple weeks and we're excited, nervous, scared, happy, etc... I'm sure these are feelings of all first time parents. To be honest, I feel like my pregnancy has gone by pretty fast compared to what I thought it would be like. I think it's because I've had relatively few issues and I've kept busy with a routine schedule and working full time. One more week of working and hopefully, by then, this baby will be ready to come! Oct 10th is the due date!
We've had a busy month! We were able to take a 3 day weekend to visit the Grand Canyon, (pictures of that on my facebook page), shop for more baby stuff of course, had a great time at a baby shower my friends threw me, and Mo started a very busy rotation at the Mayo clinic. Here are a couple of pictures we've taken of those events....

Here is Mo getting ready to leave for his rotation at the Mayo Clinic! He loves it there and is learning all about Interventional Radiology, which is one of his favorite areas of Medicine. He'd like to pursue that field after he graduates from school. And then the others are these funny pictures of him practicing gowning and gloving for surgical procedures. Who knew it would be so complicated! I love his looks of concentration while he tried to put gloves on while not being able to have his hands outside of his coat! Ha ha, so funny!

Signs of 3rd trimester.....

This past week has felt like the most significant week in my pregnancy so far. It's like out of nowhere, I feel huge, sore and awkward almost all the time! A couple things have happened this week that have made me feel this way.
You know you're definitely out of the "honeymoon stages" of pregnancy when:
1) Co-workers make comments to you like, "Wow you look huge today!
2) "I swear you went from small to large overnight!"
3) "I can't help but notice you have a little shelf you can rest your hands on now!"
4) "You look really tired. Are you sleeping well?" (Um no, not when you're getting up to pee and find a comfortable position half the night!)
5) People walk by you at work and you catch them just staring at your stomach with a look on their face, like "WOW." They don't disguise it well.
6) You go out for walks in the morning and afterward feel like you just did a strenuous aerobics class. (sore joints, backache, etc)
7) You start feeling painful nerve twinges you didn't know you had.
8) You're baby uses your abdomen as a punching bag....and you will also see a foot go from one end of your stomach to the other.

These are just some things I've noticed this week that I thought I should capture because this week I've felt like I've officially entered the last stages of pregnancy. I will always remember week 32!

Prego pics!

I thought it was about time for some more preo pics. I am now at 23 weeks and feeling really good actually! I think I've hit a more enjoyable time of the pregnancy. I feel good most of time and I'm feeling our little guy kick more and more often! It's pretty fun to experience that, it's like their small way of telling you that they're there and don't forget about me! I went to the Doc yesterday and everything is going great!

Mo has started his rotations and is learning a lot in his Internal Med rotation. He works in a very busy office and sees multiple patients a day! Once he takes the patient history and completes an exam, he presents his finding to the doctor and the doctor decides the final word after he sees the patient. It seems to be a great way to learn and even though he comes home exhausted every night, he is learning a lot!

Mo and I also had the chance to go to a Diamondbacks baseball game and just happened to run into our friends Nan, Chris and their baby Brooklyn at the game! Even though the D-backs lost, it was fun and we got to watch a free concert from Lifehouse after the game! We've also had Mo's family in town, I'll have to post about that next time and I'll also post some pictures of them in town on my facebook page!

One year older and more exciting news!

Last week was Mo's birthday and I asked him what he wanted and/or what he wanted to do. All he told me he wanted was a banana creme pie and to see the new Star Trek movie. I think I could probably handle both of those things, so we had a fun low key birthday this year! I was just excited that he took the WHOLE evening off from studying and hung out with me! I think he looks so cute in these pictures with his presents and pie, just a cute happy boy all content! He deserved a night off and he works so hard at school! I'm so proud of him and that he's almost done with his year of classroom/book work! He is ready to get out there on his rotations to apply what he's been learning for the past year. Rotations will last 15 months and then he will be done! That will be an exciting day.

We also decided to barbeque over the weekend so I didn't have to heat up our kitchen since it's getting so hot here! 100 degree days are here! Oh yeah and last, but not least, we had our ultrasound today and we're having a boy! Yeah! We are very excited, the doctor says everything looks healthy and normal so far at 18 weeks. I've also started feeling him move, at first I didn't know what it was, but it started happening more often. It makes this whole experience feel even more real and exciting!
