What are the odds???

Some of you may know that I work for a mutual fund company. I have been in training for the last 10 weeks learning all about American Funds and how to help financial advisers and clients with their accounts. So Monday morning comes and we are finally set loose to get out there on the phone to help whoever calls my line! So let me ask you this.... What are the odds that my first day out of training, the stock market has their biggest loss since 9/11??? And then, followed by 2 more crazy days in the market?? I do empathize with all investors now, but in my opinion, which has a lot to do with retirement being far, far away for me, we should all just hang in there! Just over a year ago the Dow was up to 14,000 points. It can happen again! I look at it like, buy now, the funds are on a great sale right now! My favorite call was someone asking if we're going out of business too! (We are definitely not, by the way. American Funds is one of the top 3 mutual fund companies!) Anyway, let's just say the past couple of days have been a learning experience. Now I must get some sleep so I can get ready for another day of excitement at the office!

Poor Julia...what a way to get thrown right into the middle of it all! Good luck with everything though, and I'm so happy to hear you are FINALLY done with training too! After 11 weeks of training (or whatever crazy amount you said), I'm sure you are PERFECT at your job:-)
